The acronym SMR stands for sensorimotor rhythm, which is an EEG frequency from 12–15 Hz that is associated with an alert, attentive state coupled with calm or silent motor activities (Fisher, 2009, para. 1). Visible light has a frequency, and, when looking at a particular color, it is possible to affect the brainwaves. Table 3 charts the brainwave categories, frequency ranges, and characteristics of that brainwave.
