↑ The fully assembled shower toilets are carefully packaged at the end of the assembly line. passed on to the next skilled worker. “We take great care when training our employ- ees. We have developed our own method that enables us to organise the training pro- cess efficiently and at the same time en- sure that the work carried out is of the right quality,” emphasises Karl Zahner. When assembling the AquaClean Mera Classic, the ceramic body is first of all bonded to the blue steel frame with millime- tre precision. The individual assemblies, such as the spray arm and dryer arm, are installed during the next steps. Bit by bit, all the components find their rightful place in the appliance. Operational sequences, tightness and other quality features are tested thoroughly between each of the in- dividual steps. Sophisticated logistics The individual workstations on the Mera Classic assembly line are lined up one be- hind the other in the bright production hall. Because of their many material contain- ers – in which electronic components, ca- bles, metal parts and plastic parts are lo- cated – they look just like the toy grocer’s shops from our childhood. The fact that all these containers are always filled and the right parts are therefore available at the right time in the right quantity is down to a sophisticated logistics process. Here, so- phisticated also means that the process of supplying materials must not involve a large administrative effort. “Achieving the greatest possible value added without waste – that is our guiding principle,” says Karl Zahner. The individual workstations receive their supplies from the so-called supermarket. This is located at the beginning of the pro- duction hall and is where all the compo- nents for shower toilet assembly are found. To ensure that the assembly stations are always supplied with the required compo- nents and assemblies, the empty contain- ers containing the required information are regularly collected, filled up in the super- market and brought back to the respective assembly station once again. The “super- market” itself is supplied with new mater- ials from the main warehouse three times a day. Final quality check The technics assembly and main control are built into the AquaClean Mera Classic at the final workstations. The finished appli- ances then undergo an end-of-line test, a procedure that sees the entire product subjected to extensive safety and function tests once again. The finished Mera Classic shower toilets are then carefully packaged into made-to-measure cardboard boxes at the packaging station at the end of the as- sembly line. ← 11
