Sustainable products Water-saving, energy-saving, flexible: Geberit urinal systems The new Geberit urinal system stands out thanks to its economical use of water and electricity, and also features an impressively high degree of flexibility and exemplary ease of maintenance. Sanitary installations in public and semipublic areas have to be able to cope with a wide range of demands. From continuous, round-the-clock operation in busy airports and the tempor- ary – and therefore more intense – rush of visitors in football stadiums right through to the high level of comfort in elegant restaurants, the range is virtually unlimited. As a leading pro- vider of urinal systems, Geberit has developed a system that can cope with all of these situations. It is comprised of rimless and flow-optimised ceramic appliances, completely new con- trol units for the flush, easy-to-maintain traps, and installation technology that has proven itself millions of times over. The system can therefore be configured to meet the most diverse needs. Waterless or water-saving The urinals can be operated with a hybrid or conventional flush, as well as entirely without water. The spray head for the water flush and the ceramic appliance are designed so that optimal flushing is achieved with just 0.5 litres of water. The innovative urinal flush control is located in a docking sta- tion underneath the ceramic appliance. The control unit – which ↑ The new Geberit urinal ceramic appliances Preda and Selva (Preda shown here) were designed at the studios of Christoph Behling Design in London. contains the control electronics, the solenoid valve, and the power supply – can be installed and removed in just a few sim- ple steps. Grid, battery, or self-sustaining There are also a variety of options when it comes to the power supply. These range from grid operation and battery operation through to a self-sustaining power supply. The way in which this self-sustaining power supply works is very simple. When water flows through the pipes to flush the urinal ceramic appliance, a small generator produces electri- city, which is stored in the integrated rechargeable batteries and supplies the urinal flush control with the required power. What is particularly interesting is that subsequent retrofitting from grid operation to battery operation or a self-sustaining power supply is possible at any time. Odourless and clean In addition to the suction trap for conventional flush volumes, Geberit’s trap range also includes a hybrid trap. Thanks to its membrane interaction, the hybrid trap offers full functionality even when little or no water is used. Both traps can be easily re- moved for maintenance purposes without removing the ceram- ic appliance, thus providing direct access to the discharge pipe. From stadiums to hotels Investors and building owners always strive for a high level of efficiency, including when it comes to the operation of facilities. Thanks to an online calculator, it is now possible to calculate the operating costs and the environmental impact of the new urinal systems, as well as to compare the various operating modes. Geberit has always developed sustainable products that are used in groundbreaking green buildings – the new Geberit ur- inal system is a classic example in this regard. “This system offers building owners an optimal and re- source-saving solution – and by resources I mean water or electricity as well as the time required for installation and maintenance.” Daniel Raissle, Head of Product Line Faucets & Flushing Systems
