Zermatt Michel Marthaler is an Honorary Professor of Geology at the University of Lausanne. He is working for the Swiss Geological Survey to complete the Geological Atlas of Switzerland at 1:25,000. His research and interests are focused on Alpine geology, mainly the high Valais Alps, the Pyrenees, mountain building and its links with geodynamics, as well as Earth Sciences didactics. He has published several popular scientific books including The Alps and our Planet. Henri Rougier is Professor Emeritus of Physical Geography at the University of Lyon. He teaches as part of Erasmus exchanges at the two universities in Berlin and at the University of Halle-Wittenberg. He founded and chairs in Chamoson (Valais, Switzerland) the association Géoterrain, whose aim is to promote geology and geography. He has published six books on the geography of Zermatt.
