Natural Photoactive Compounds from Plants The search for the natural compounds as efficient PSs has been progressively moving forward because of the side effects caused by current synthetic drugs. The advanced isolation, identification and characterisation techniques improved the extraction of desirable compounds from plants. Recently, using these advanced techniques, the isolation of natural photoactive compounds has become easy. Although there have been few studies attempting to identify new chemical compounds with photoactivity from plant extracts, this review discusses the photoactivity as well as the anticancer activity of some plant-based compounds such as furanocoumarins, polyacetylenes, thiophenes, curcumins, alkaloids and anthraquinones (Table 2).PDF Image | Role of Photoactive Phytocompounds in Photodynamic Therapy of Cancer
