FIRST WE EAT 3 Analyze Those Stats I know, I know, graphs are boring AF. But, the Insights (aka analyt- ics) portion of instagram is pretttttty darn useful and insightful, so it’s worth being bored for a few minutes to glean detailed informa- tion about what your followers are responding to and why. For example, by analyzing my Insights, I noticed that anytime I posted a video I gained much more followers than when I posted a photo. I think this is because there’s less competition for videos on IG, so I have a much higher chance of having my video featured in the Explore tab than I do a photograph. Because of this, I’m now trying to post a video once every couple weeks at minimum. Start by looking at your top-performing instagram posts and ask yourself what stands out to you about them. Is it the color, the mo- tion, the subject...? Think of ways you can incorporate that more frequently into your feed to draw in engagement + new followers. If you’re thinking about hosting a workshop or launching a product in a new location, look at the location density of your followers and try and align it with a location that you already have a large follow- ing in. There’s lots of ways to put those numbers and insights to practical use, so sit on down, get a mug o’ tea, and dive deep!
