Google suggests that you reach out to those in your site’s community “that cover topic areas similar to yours. Opening up communication with these sites is usually beneficial” [19]. Contacting sites that are related to what your site is about is a great way to network, promote and increase your site’s exposure. For example, if you own an online baseball card store, you may contact a sporting goods store to see if it is interested in what your site offers. The site owner may be willing to link to your site and vice versa. The goal is to get as many backlinks as possible, but keep in mind that search engines place more importance to links from popular, trustworthy and authoritative sites.
