Great Stirrup Cay - Private Island

After a day at sea from visiting St. Thomas, we arrived around 11:30am at the NCL Private Island. After a few hours of reserved tender service, I headed out to the Private Island for some photo shoots. Last year, I went jet skiing here, and had a blast. Most elect to tan, snorkel or just swim in the warm tropical waters. There are some volleyball nets set up and even a few hammocks between palm trees.

The ship on Shore

The first few tenders over to the Private Island are reserved for the food and bar staff, who set up a nice lunch buffet, fruit stand, and bars. The food is included, and you can sign for the bar and most of the water toys (jet skis, parasailing, and kayaks must be paid for by cash to the local vendor). This is a very hot island, so be sure to drink lots of liquids. They do have a water stand set up, but it's a ways back behind all of the bars which are conveniently located right next to the beach.

Private Island Not So Private

While the island is a NCL exclusive destination, almost everybody on ship is there-- so it's you and 2,800 of your shipmates (passengers and crew). I went back to the ship early, and tanned on the top deck, which was empty. This is a great place to get https://cruisingreview.com/cruise-reviews/photos of the ship, from shore and from the tender.
