Tuesday 20 September HyperTravel Lauterbrunnen Murren Schilthorn Valley Walk Train to Geneva and Flight to Bristol

Tuesday was a very full HyperTravel day. After a nice breakfast at the Oberland Hotel, I checked out but left my luggage at the front desk to explore the region.

I started out taking the cablecar up to the rail which connects the cablecar to Murren (high above Lauterbrunnen). This was covered by the Swiss Travel Pass.

After a nice walk through Murren (best place to stay in the area overnight), I took the cablecar up to Birg and then the peak at the Schilthorn (film site of Bond 007 In Her Magestys Service).

I then took the cable car down to Birg, then Murren, then another intermediate stop, and finally to the valley floor, some 2,600 feet below. It was a beautiful fall day, so took a one hour walk down the valley back to Lauterbrunnen.

After picking up some lunch for the train, I took the train via Interlaken, Bern, and finally to Geneva, where I got a night flight to Bristol, UK.

Lauterbrunnen Map

Map of the valley and access. I highly recommend walking to or from the far end of the valley (about an hour on flat trails).
