Day at Sea

Bridge

Thursday was a day at sea, enroute to Great Stirrup Cay in the Bahamas. James Deering, the Hotel Director gave me a bridge and galley tour of the ship.

The Bridge is Fully Automated but Always Monitored by the Crew

Bridge Tour

Side Bridge

The fully electronic bridge is fascinating to see. There are some 800 plus cameras which have views of the entire ship. The cameras can be viewed on the bridge, or even by Star Cruise headquarters.

Wing Bridge

Wing Bridge

The bridge has two outward projecting areas called wings. They allow a great viewing area when docking.

Crew Areas

Crew Dining

What happens in the passenger areas and crew areas are like night and day. The crew quarters and social areas are very stark, compared to the luxurious passenger areas of the ship.

Galley

Bakery

There are numerous galley areas throughout the ship that support the numerous restaurants.

Food Assembly

Food Preparation

The thousands of meals prepared aboard ship are like a well choreographed show. The galley areas were always very clean, and very efficiently staffed.

Bread and Pastries

Bakery

Nothing is better than freshly baked bread, and the bread is made from scratch 24 hours a day.

Galley

Galley

The all stainless-steel galley works day and night to keep passengers well fed.

Steak and Lobster

Evening

Thursday evening was the steak and lobster event at the non-cover charge restaurants. I had the steak which was actually quite good, of almost equal quality as the steaks I had at Cagney's (but a great deal less expensive). After dinner, did some Karaoke at Dazzle's with my Chilean friends (recently from NYC) and then to Spinnaker's for late night drinks.

KeyCard

KeyCard

The keycard is your onboard room key, and credit card. If you get a soda stamp, this goes on the front of your card, but can only be used in certain bars (only the staff seemed to know which ones, but they weren't telling).
