Atrium Platinum in Rhodes Greece

After a EasyJet flight from Amsterdam to Rhodes, a short taxi drive took us to the Atrium Plantinum all-inclusive resort.

The resort is not located on the beach, but is separated by a road and a few properties. Many of the rooms have a view of the beach and sunset, but mine did not.

The staff is wonderful and friendly. They really put in the effort to insure you have a good stay.

It is an breakfast included (our option) or all-inclusive format with breakfast, lunch, and dinner buffet. It does have a few upscale restaurants which are additional. The buffets are good (not great) and offer the same buffet food every day. We tried a few of the specialty restaurants and were pleasantly surprised, but opted to dine out for at least one lunch and dinner at a local Indian restaurant (food quality much better than the buffet).

During our stay, we had a few issues.

Upon arrival one our rooms (suite 427) had a sink issue. The bottom hose disconnected and flooded the bathroom. It was fixed while we were at dinner, but not a very good welcome. I've never seen a flexible flimsy hose instead of piping, but this resort uses them. It's certainly not to any proper plumbing code, and maybe they don't have any in Greece (I'm unsure).

Another day, one of our group got locked in the public bathroom (one floor down from the buffet level). The staff responded by sending a fruit plate and bottle of wine (nice, but we don't drink alcohol).

My room had a nice balcony view of the northwest (no sunset and only a small view of the ocean). Air conditioning worked great and no room issues. Turndown service and daily housekeeping is provided, except that you never know when your room will be cleaned. I ended up calling in to schedule a morning clean, since after going for a 2-4 hour hike or sightseeing, I wanted to return to a clean room.

It was blazing hot and dry when we were there. Typical temperatures were 35-43 C.

We left a few days early from our week stay, since I had some business in Ankara, Turkey, but shortly after we left they had massive fires which evacuated much of the island.

A walk to town is a good 30 minutes or more next to the ocean. A healthier walk and climb takes longer going up the hill and following the top of the ridge, which also takes you by the ancient Greek ruins.

Overall a good resort and good value for the money paid in advance. No surprises and the staff was always willing to help out. No wonder it gets a high ranking (1st) for TripAdvisor for Rhodes.
