Port of Civitavecchia

Ship at Port

We arrived at port early in the morning and most of the passengers departed for their day trips to Rome. I met with some Italian businessman and had lunch at a local ristorante.

Seafood at Sala Sul Mare

Meeting with some Italian businessmen from PERT, I was treated to a wonderful Mediterranean seafood lunch.

Relaxing Afternoon Aboard Ship

Voyager

After a full day of business meetings, I got to relax in the late afternoon aboard ship. The ship had few passengers, since most were in Rome for the day.

Captains Cocktail Party - Formal Night

Pepe and Captain Dag

Formal night aboard ship is one of the best parts of the cruise, since everyone dresses up. The Captain had a formal cocktail party in the main Atrium, along with a piano and complimentary champagne and hors d'vours before dinner.

Dinner at Compass Rose

Compass Rose

After the Captain's Formal Cocktail Party, I joined a group for dinner at the Compass Rose. Since I was unable to get reservations at Latitudes or Signatures for the first portion of the cruise, there were only two options for dining-- Compass Rose and Verandah at the top of the ship.

Showtime

Main Atrium

At the Constellation Theater, "On a Classical Note" was the show of the evening. A collection of Italian operetta's from the singers and dancers aboard Voyager.

Martini's at Observatory Lounge

Captain and Guests

Captain Dag Dvergastein was up at the lounge, while pianist Chris Hamilton was playing on-request tunes. Tonight there were more people dancing and enjoying the lounge, while again, the full Moon lit the path on the sea ahead of Voyager as she made her towards Sorrento, Italy.

Karaoke at Voyager Lounge

Voyager Lounge

There were two nights when Karaoke was the main event at the Voyager Lounge. They turned out to be the best nights of the cruise. Passenger participation is a great way to bond with fellow passengers. Unfortunately, there was no DJ, so a preprogrammed music selection was all that was available.

Ships Evening Gathering Locations

Voyager Lounge

Every ship seems to have its own rhythm, as far as where people gravitate towards after dinner. On smaller ships, it's usually the piano bar. What always surprises me is why not concentrate the nightlife bars in one location (or on the same deck) so that people are not divided.
