Naxos

Naxos

We anchored in the bay off of Naxos, which is at the base of Mt. Etna, an active volcano, that towers over 10,000 above the Sicilian countryside. Taormina rises above the Mediterranean and has commanding views of both the ocean and the volcano.

Tender Ashore

Mt. Etna

Tours usually have priority to take tenders ashore first. Here is the bay of Naxos, with Mt. Etna in the background.

Sicilian Town - Taormina

Cliffside Village

Taormina is a beautiful Sicilian town that is nestled in the cliffs overlooking the Mediterranean. The streets are narrow and surrounded by beautiful parks and steep terrain which only adds to the allure of the village.

Greek Theater

Ancient Greek Ruins

The hallmark of the area is the Greek theater, which has a commanding view of the volcano and the bay below, where the ship was anchored.

Early Departure

Ship at Anchor

The departed early for our next port of call, Corfu, Greece.

Martini's at Observatory Lounge

Sicilian Sunset

As the ship departed the bay at Naxos, we were greeted by a beautiful Mediterranean sunset. Before dinner, as is my tradition, I had a pre-dinner martini at the most beautiful area of the ship, the Observatory Lounge. From here, you can see the sun set, the Moon rise, and look at the oceans many moods.

Dinner at Latitudes

Dinner

We ate dinner at the reservations restaurant, Latitudes. It was the best dinner of the voyage so far, and service was excellent. Latitudes only serves about 40 passengers, and dinner starts promptly at 7:30 p.m.

Karaoke Night at Voyager Lounge

Voyager Lounge

This was the second Karaoke Night in the Voyager Lounge, and was the funniest evening aboard the ship. The crowd was finally bonding and many friends were made that evening. I bought a number of bottles of champagne to get the party started.
