Arrival at Port	Cozumel
We arrived on-schedule and had dock lines secured at 8:15 a.m.

Helicopter Tour of Tulum	Helicopter
After having done several helicopter tours in Bora Bora and Moorea, I thought it would be fun to compare a similar tour here. A small group of us met at the end of the gangplank at 8:30 a.m. and waited for our tour guide. After about 30 minutes we realized something was not going to happen, but one of the tour specialists on ship, Katja, got on the phone and started to try to untangle the mess.

Revised Tour	Tulum by Helicopter
Apparently, the tour operator contact was in New York City, and nobody had made arrangements. So after a few more phone calls and another 30 minutes, there was a revised schedule. For a reduced price, we were offered a flight tour instead of the flight and ground tour. We all agreed and finally headed to the airport in cabs to begin our adventure.

Tulum	Tulum Mayan Ruins on the Caribbean
After more than a two hour wait, a chopper was sent over from Cancun, and after it was refueled, we boarded for our flight. The helicopter was very crowed and cramped with one passenger and the pilot in front, and four in the back. The flight to Tulum was about 25 minutes. As we slowly approached the coast, the beautiful emerald blue waters started to glisten. Seeing Tulum from a helicopter is amazing. The ruins are located on a cliff, with a sugary white sand beach below. I have heard before stories that if a light is in the temple, the light emanating from the openings of the temple mark a channel through the extensive reef system which is all along the coast.

Cancun	Cancun by Helicopter
After some hovering and photo ops at Tulum, we proceeded up to Cancun, skirting the coast at tree top level. This was exciting flying !

Cancun Hotels	Cancun
After a 25 minute flight, we cruised by the hotels, sometimes at the same height as the parasailors.

After a total of about two hours, we returned to the airport at Cozumel, and did a quick flyover of the ship.

After returning to town by taxi, we went to Senor Frogs (which was full of liquor consuming cruise ship passengers and crew) and had a huge margarita.

After a nice Mexican lunch poolside, I spent the rest of the day tanning.

After a martini at Galileo's, had a very nice dinner at Compass Rose restaurant.

Star's Lounge	Late Night Cocktails
After dinner drinks concluded at the Star's Lounge and some Beatle's live music up at Galileo's.
