Monaco and Monte Carlo After the St. Tropez destination was canceled due to high winds and rough seas, we continued on to Monaco. We arrived just after sunset the day before at the dock at Monaco.
At Dock - Monaco Source: World Factbook. The Genoese built a fortress on the site of present-day Monaco in 1215. The current ruling Grimaldi family secured control in the late 13th century, and a principality was established in 1338. Economic development was spurred in the late 19th century with a railroad linkup to France and the opening of a casino. Since then, the principality's mild climate, splendid scenery, and gambling facilities have made Monaco world famous as a tourist and recreation center. Population about 32,000. Area: 1.95 sq.km.

End of the Day - Voyager in Monaco After a pleasant afternoon walking around Monaco, I had a sunset martini and ate dinner at Compass Rose, the main dining salon on the RSSC Voyager. Afterwards some of the passengers gathered for Karaoke and some on-board casino action. Generally I don't visit the casino's aboard ship (except for blackjack where you have even odds on winning), but made the exception. The worst part is the smokers - they should just ban smoking (except for properly ventilated rooms like the cigar room) on ships. It's annoying and the ashes are dirty.
