Swiss Travel Pass from Zermatt to Lauterbrunnen

Glacier Express is one of the best ways to see the Swiss alps

Monday 19 September HyperTravel Swiss Travel Pass App

The Riffelalp closed for the summer season on Monday 19 September, so I took the Glacier Express to Andermatt, and then onwards, to cover the most area in one day ultimately ending up in Lauterbrunnen.

My objectives were to see the alps in Andermatt, a lake cruise up through Lake Lucerne, then train over to the Lauterbrunnen valley.

Here is my Swiss Travel Pass journey:

Zermatt to Fleulen via Andermatt and Glacier Express: rail is covered by fist class Swiss Pass, but need to pay 49 CHF for a seat reservation. All food and drink is optional, and breakfast or lunch needs to be purchased in advance, unless you want to select from a limited onboard menu. These Glacier Express rail trips are spectacular.

Zermatt: 8:52 am boarded the Glacier Express for seat 34

Tickets checked w/in 45 minute of start. Was facing backwards to route of travel, which was not the greatest.

Had a Green tea for around 3.50 CHF.

Andermatt: 11:43 am then took 11:50 am R44 train to

Goshenen: 12:09 pm.

Fleulen: 12:43 pm arrived for boat to journey on the lake. For certain hours of the day, the boat leaves every hour.

Boat: 1:00 pm departure for mulitple stops along the lake as it journies ultimately to Lucerne bahn quay see (lake).

Bauen: One of my favorite stops, and a revisit point at the base of a mountain and on the lake.

Brunnen: it's a good staging area for electric bike to explore the area.

Weggis: 15:05 for a lunch break at Olive Restaurant, who has great pizza.

16:05 Paddlewheeler to Luzern. Very crowded paddlewheeler.

Luzern: 17:05

Interlaken and Lauterbrunnen.
